Vom Anfang und Ende der Partizipation

  • Kunstverein Langenhagen (DE)
  • 26.09.–26.12.2026

In the winter of 1967, Chris Reinecke abandoned her approach to participatory exhibitions. The artist was disappointed with both the audience and herself. Yet she would not be the last to open her practice to the involvement of others-thereby generating new promises, forms, and complications.

An exhibition featuring paintings, drawings, and photographs by artists from widely varying generations, whose social and participatory projects resonate within the works. Vom Anfang und Ende der Partizipation (On the Beginning and End of Participation) presents works by Fabian Bastanier, Maximiliane Baumgartner, Thomas Hirschhorn, Christine and Irene Hohenbüchler, Chris Reinecke, Christoph Schäfer, and Franz Erhard Walther. Curated by Steffen Zillig in collaboration with Hans-Jürgen Hafner.
