Textile & Structure

Under the title 'Textile & Structure,' the Documentation Center for Modern Art presents a multifaceted group exhibition exploring the role of textiles in contemporary art.

The exhibition brings together works by fourteen international artists who explore the expressive power of textile materials. In their hands, garments are transformed into a colorful herbarium, serve as the backdrop for a cosmic animated film, or are woven into biographical milestones. The thread is declared a motif of artistic communication or, through its linearity, condenses into a colorful surface. Some works transcend cultural and individual boundaries, while others highlight their absurdity. Questions of female identity are addressed, and gender issues are placed within a human rights context. Other themes include economic injustices, sustainability, and nature, or explore the interplay between art and design.
