Werner Feiersinger
Animals and Humans
- Dom Museum, Vienna
- 02.10.2026–22.08.2027
The relationship between animals and humans-as formative as it is fraught with conflict-is the subject of this exhibition at Dom Museum Wien. It explores the various facets of our coexistence, examines the differences and similarities between us, and investigates the boundary between animals and humans: Where does the line disappear? Where do shared joy and pain become so central that differences fade away? Where is the shared experience of an increasingly threatened environment more important than differing individual attributes and abilities?
Werner Feiersinger explored Vienna, documenting animal depictions in public spaces. Feiersinger's work bridges the gap between the museum and the surrounding city, drawing attention to a collection of several hundred animal representations that are often only noticed incidentally in public spaces.
The show combines works from the Middle Ages to the present. In addition to national and international loans and newly commissioned works, the exhibition also offers insights into the collections of Dom Museum Wien.
