Booth 13 Hall PURPLE

Galerie Martin Janda is excited to participate at Artissima 2026.

In the Section Monologue/Dialogue, Galerie Martin Janda will present works by Aaron Amar Bhamra (*1992 in Vienna, lives and works in Vienna) and Erwin Bohatsch (*1951 in Mürzzuschlag, lives and works in Vienna and Venice).

Aaron Amar Bhamra’s work often responds to the exhibition space he is showing in. Through engaging with its historical contexts and by incorporating imprints reminiscent of other spaces or past exhibitions, he reactivates the spaces and draws attention to the layering of time, atmosphere and experience.

Erwin Bohatsch's works are characterised by a multi-layered, processual painting method in which layers of colour, reworking and reduction are condensed into a subtle balance. His paintings seem to be traces of something once tangible that is slowly approaching dissolution. Bohatsch’s work insists on painting as a space of autonomy, one that cannot be easily instrumentalized. He avoids fixed meanings and clear narratives, instead opening a space for perception, tension, and possibility.
