On November 9, 2004, an exhibition of works by the artist Peter Battisti († Vienna 2003) will open in the gallery’s upper level. Selected graphic work, which will be displayed for the first time, and musical compositions show an excerpt of his oeuvre.

Peter Battisti, born in Dornbirn in 1952, lived and worked in Vienna as artist and composer. His work was not limited by conventional boundaries; it included electronic music; performance; and sound and site specific sculpture. In the 1980s Battisti was part of the artist collective and founding member of REM Gallery, one of Austria’s first artist-run galleries (Vienna, Mozartplatz). In addition, Battisti was on the forefront of Vienna’s electronic music scene as composer of demanding audio pieces and gained recognition, for example, with pieces for Austrian Public Radio’s Kunstradio (Art-Radio). The visual arts, above all the graphic work – his estate includes more than 400 works on paper – has remained to a great degree unknown to the public to this day.

In the exhibit we are showing graphic work which was completed from 1990–1995. Selected audio pieces are presented at listening stations as well.
