Roman Signer: Works 1971-2002
Buchhandlung Walther König, 2003
ISBN 3-908617-16-2

Signer's materials of water, fire, air and earth- elements that "intervene in the work and bring it to completion"- demand utmost preparation and meticulous planning. Making the production processes visible in their execution is part of Signer's final work. With his own singular method the artist has, with the help of Peter Zimmermann, worked out a unique, monumental edition: a catalogue raisonne and an autonomous description of the works in one. As author he explains matter-of-factly each of the almost 500 sculptures, yet without interpreting them. He lists facts: technical details, climatic conditions, the course of events and, in this way, awakes in the reader a precise idea of his work. An English edition of the book will be published in spring 2004.
